Upward Bound is a federally funded grant provided by the Department of Education. Upward Bound provides services promoting success in high school and postsecondary education to low-income, potentially first generation college students from Northside, Hackett, Hartford, Mansfield and Cedarville. Upward Bound at UA Fort Smith will identify academic, career, and social needs for each student. Program services and activities include supplemental instruction, tutoring, remediation in core academic subjects and study skills; opportunities to learn about college experiences through campus visits and college course enrollments; career counseling and exploration; and guidance through the college selection and enrollment process.
