Upward Bound is a program which operates under a federally funded grant provided by the Department of Education. Upward Bound provides services promoting success in high school and postsecondary education to families who meet the Department of Education's income guidelines, and are potentially first generation college students from the following schools:

• Alma High School
• Butterfield Junior High
• Cedarville High School
• Charleston High School
• Coleman Junior High
• Darby Junior High
• Hackett High School
• Kimmons Junior High
• Mansfield High School
• Northside High School
• Van Buren High School

Upward Bound at UA Fort Smith will identify academic, career, and social needs for each student. Program services and activities include supplemental instruction, tutoring, remediation in core academic subjects and study skills; opportunities to learn about college experiences through campus visits and college course enrollments; career counseling and exploration; and guidance through the college selection and enrollment process.
