Registering for classes

How do I register for noncredit classes?

If you have a credit card, you may register by telephone. If not, you may request a registration form or print one from our Website and fax or mail the completed form with your payment. If you prefer, you may visit the Center for Lifelong Learning Office in person to register. Students must make their payments at the time of registration. All Lifelong Learning classes require registration in advance due to space limitations. If enrollment is not sufficient, UA Fort Smith will cancel the class at the registration deadline and the college will reimburse students for their registration fees.

How much does it cost to take a noncredit class?

The registration fees for noncredit classes vary depending on the number of class hours. Some classes require textbooks, materials, lab fees or insurance. Fixed costs will be listed under “Fees” below each class. Where a textbook or other supplies are needed, every effort is made to announce this in the class description. Because supplies needs are highly variable, they may not be listed for every class.

What if I have to drop out of a noncredit class?

Students are eligible for a 100% refund if they withdraw from a class before the class begins, or if the class is canceled by the college. Students who withdraw after the class begins but before the “10%” point (before 10% of the total number of class hours have been taught) may receive a 75% refund upon request. Please read our Refund Policy.

May I take a noncredit class more than once?

Yes.

Can I earn college credit for taking a noncredit class through the Center for Lifelong Learning?

Lifelong Learning opportunities do not earn credit toward a degree; however, the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) serves as a unit to recognize an individual’s participation in non-credit activities that meet the appropriate criteria.
