Locating Radiography Periodicals

Use a research databases to locate journal articles on radiography technology topics. Be aware that each database will have unique terminology (thesaurus or subject browse) and limiters. Always open any drop-down box to see what searching options are available

Medline 1966 to current

Produced by the National Library of Medicine. It corresponds to the print indexes Index Medicus, Index to Dental Literature, and International Nursing Index. Subjects covered include clinical medicine, nutrition, dentistry, pathology, education, psychiatry, experimental medicine, toxicology, health services administration, veterinary medicine, and nursing.

• To do a Subject search, change Keyword to MeSH Heading (Medical Subject Heading)
• Click on the "Subjects" icon (under Basic Search tab) to browse MeSH Subject Headings.

CINAHL 1982 to current

The Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature covers many different health fields. Scroll down the “Limit your results” options. Some examples of these limiters are:

• Journal Subset: includes Consumer Health, Peer Reviewed, Public Health
• Publication Type: includes Care Plan, Clinical Trial, Diagnostic Images

Click on the CINAHL Headings option to explore broader, narrower and related terms as well as "See" references to correct terms.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition

This database indexes over 850 health journals and provides full text to 550 journals. Full text links are available for titles such as Australasian Radiology, Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal and many more.

This database does not offer the number of limiters available in CINAHL or Medline. Two very useful options are:

• The “Subjects” link in the upper menu bar allows the exploration of terminology.
• A Medical Dictionary is useful to gather additional words and phrases to search on.

List of Radiography Journals

Some publications are only available in one format. Those available as a paper subscription in the Boreham Library have beginning volume and date information and are shelved on Rows 15-25 on the Second Floor. Those available online have a title link to the Periodicals List where holdings date information and database name is located.
