Education Databases

ERIC via EbscoHost
The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) is a national information system designed to provide ready access to an extensive body of education-related literature. ERIC contains more than 1 million abstracts of documents and journal articles on education research and practice. Some unique features of ERIC include:

  • An online subject list. Click on Thesaurus from the top menu bar.
Type a word into the Browse box and click on Browse.
From the list of subject headings, click on the word's online link.
Notice the word's hierarchy; broader, narrower and related terms.
  • The search may be restricted in several ways:
    • By date
    • To peer-reviewed journals
    • To full-text only
    • By educational level, audience or language
    • By publication type
  • The EbscoHost version of ERIC, while not a full-text database, does link to full-text appearing in any of the other EbscoHost databases available to our library.
