Dental Hygiene Clinic

Where we are located

The UA Fort Smith Dental Hygiene Clinic is located in Room 136 of the Pendergraft Health Sciences Center near the corner of Grand and Waldron.

Services provided at the Dental Hygiene Clinic

Students provide services to the public under the direct supervision of dental hygiene and dental faculty.

Dental radiographs are included in the services provided.

Students are evaluated at various steps throughout the appointment; therefore, appointments are scheduled in two- to four-hour blocks. More than one appointment may be necessary to complete all dental hygiene procedures. The number of appointment times necessary to complete the process varies and depends upon the needs of the patient. Dental radiographs are included in the services provided at the Dental Hygiene Clinic.

Services provided at the clinic include:

  • dental prophylaxis (cleaning)
  • dental radiographs (x-rays)
  • examination by dentist
  • topical fluoride treatment
  • oral hygiene instruction
  • dental sealants
  • other services are available at selected times during the semester. Ask your student hygienist about additional services.

How to make an appointment

First year students begin their clinical education on Dexter, a typodont, that simulates the patient's head and mouth with teeth.

During the fall semester, the clinic operates on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00-5:00. In the spring semester, the clinic operates Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:00-5:00 and Friday from 8:00-12:00.

If you would like to make an appointment, call 479-788-7270 and you will be assigned to a student hygienist who will contact you to schedule your appointment. There is a nominal fee for the dental hygiene services that are provided through the clinic. Please call 479-788-7270 for additional information.
