Student loans are designed to help every student cover his or her expenses while attending an institution of higher education. UA Fort Smith participates in the Federal Stafford Loan program, the Parent PLUS Loan program, as well as certifying private and Alternative loans. The current interest rate for Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans borrowed on or after July 1, 2008 is fixed at 6.0%, while Unsubsidized Stafford Loans are fixed at 6.8%.
