Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
College of Business students, who meet the prescribed degree requirements, will be awarded the bachelor of science degree in business administration. Students are required to complete a minimum of 51 semester hours of general education requirements, as well as the specific major requirements for a total of 126 degree hours. Students should complete the freshman and sophomore courses prior to the junior and senior level business courses. Students need to work with an advisor in the selection of the upper-level business administration major courses.
Students can complete the bachelor of science in business administration degree by satisfying the University requirements and the College of Business specific requirements:
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.25 and a grade of at least a "C" for each course offered by the College of Business, including core and major requirements, based on the last grade earned in each course.
- Maintain an overall GPA of 2.25.
- No more than 50 percent of the minimum courses required for a College of Business baccalaureate degree may be taken within the College of Business. Up to six semester hours of economics, three semester hours of statistics, three hours of computer literacy, and one hour of MGMT 1201 Planning for Success may be counted as part of the general education curriculum.
- Requirements for courses to be taken in residency:
- At least 50 percent of the minimum business courses required for the baccalaureate degree must be taken in residence at UA Fort Smith. Any UA Fort Smith student who has declared a major in business must get prior approval from a College faculty advisor to take any course at another institution before credit will be given for the course. Appropriate documentation must be attached to the Course Substitution Waiver Request form with the notation that approval depends on satisfactory completion of the course.
- COBI 4813 Strategic Management must be taken in residency.
- A minimum of 45-semester credit hours in upper-division business courses is required for graduation. To enroll in upper-division business courses, a student majoring in the College of Business must meet admission requirements for the College of Business.
- All candidates for baccalaureate degrees in the College of Business are required to take a designated major field assessment test. This test is administered as a part of the capstone COBI 4813 Strategic Management course. Scores earned on the test may become a part of the course grade; taking the test is a requirement for course completion.
