Strength Program

The weight room, located in Stubblefield Center, is a state-of-the-art facility. The room is exclusively for the use of UA Fort Smith athletes and is filled with over $80,000 worth of top-of-the-line equipment.

The Men's Basketball Strength Program is designed to do several things. First, to reduce the risk of injury during competition. Second, to help each individual enhance performance and prepare for the next level of competition. The weight program is a year-round schedule. The guys will lift a minimum of 4 times per week during the off-season working on increasing strength and decreasing body fat. They will maintain 4 lifts per week through pre-season conditioning. Once the season begins, the lifts are reduced to 2 or 3 lifts per week, which are less intense, but still attempt to strengthen muscles and reduce the risk of injury as the season progresses.

This year the players and coaches are excited to have the leadership of Volunteer Strength Coach, Dr. Kyle Jarnagin. Dr. Jarnagin is kind enough to take time out of his day to come and help our team get better off the court so that we will perform better on the court. We can't thank Dr. Jarnagin enough for his help and sacrifice to make sure this team is successful.
