Self - Assessment

During individual career planning, you and an Academic Advisor can discuss major and/or career options, address issues or concerns about career planning, review self-assessment outcomes and talk about how to use available resources within the college and community to learn about careers. Appointments can be made with an advisor by calling (479) 788-7400 or emailing Career Planning.

What is self-assessment?

When making significant career or education decisions, it is important to recognize a few key characteristics about yourself. Being aware of these characteristics will help you choose a major, career, or advanced degree program that may result in a higher level of job satisfaction.

One way to uncover such personal characteristics is to use self-assessment tools. Assessment tools are designed to help you identify your interests, skills, and values and how they can be best matched with academic or career pursuits. Many self-assessments make a connection between your personal traits and related career fields.

Self-Assessment Tools

Student Advisement and Career Planning have both computerized assessments and paper and pencil versions for help in individual career planning, decision making and researching career and major options.
