Katherine Sherwood White, D.M.A., holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern State University (LA), a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in vocal performance from the University of Kentucky. Dr. White has performed leading roles with Cincinnati Opera, Central City Opera, Kentucky Opera Theater, and Texas Opera Theater, including the title role in Handel’s Rinaldo, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, and The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors. Dr. White is especially interested in recital performance, and as a result she recently created and performed a series of outreach presentations for the purpose of educating elementary students on the past, present, and future of American art song. Since July 2008 she has made her home in Fort Smith with her husband, Edward, and their daughter, Evelyn. Dr. White currently teaches private voice at the Academy of the Arts.
